The OverviewContrary to what it may appear, I was never a full-time writer until I 'retired' c. 2010. Prior to that, though I wrote incessantly starting around 1983, writing was an adjunct to my technical consulting and seminars. So, in the 1992 to 2001 period, which is when I did a bulk of my 'non-book' writing, my trinity was: consulting, writing and seminars. Each following on from and at the same time also feeding the other. Writing was my 'calling card'. People knew me from my writing.
I categorize my documents as follows:

The BooksAll of my sole-author books, with luck, are featured on the 'Home' page (I hope). In addition to these I have a few where I was either the co-author or the Editor. I don't bother to list them. You should be able to find them on Amazon -- where all of my books are available. Sole-author books = 35.

First 250 Documents
![]() To begin with I was keeping a list of my publication as a part of my resumé as was the norm. Then when I got to around 40 publications I realized that I needed a separate document. Once I was close to 100 I set myself the 250 goal. Had no idea how long it would take me. I kind of surprised myself. At 253, in 1998, I gave up keeping the list updated. My very first publication, in 1978, is of interest. It, published by IBM, describes an embryonic serial-number based software validation mechanism, i.e., the precursor to the annoying 'Enter Product Key' schemes used by Microsoft and others. Here is a post about it.
