Well, I was getting concerned. I am running out of runway. We are only about 5 weeks away from January 2022.
I like weekly options. I TRY (& ‘try’ really is the key) to maintain three sets of AMZN covered calls; one weekly, one mid-term & the other long. Yes, it is always a temptation to skip weekly & jump at least a month ahead & collect a larger premium. With AMZN that can backfire since the stock can go up $100 in a couple of hours — as it did last week. With my mid- & long-term I am out $600 or more. I wrote my first $4,000 AMZN option last June! I most likely will write a $5,000 option by February 2022.
Anywho, on Friday, I had a few minutes to spare & I called up my wonderful ‘Active Trader Support Team‘ at ‘Fidelity‘. The Rep. I got did not know the answer right away. He had to check with the (famous) ‘Back Office’. After a few minutes he came back & said that they think the options will start listing as of ‘next’ week (i.e., this coming week). That was worth knowing. Even if it isn’t this week per se, it will be SOON. Per my Rep. they typically appear around 5-weeks out. OK?
