I did NOT know much about autism till quite recently. I had not knowingly had much exposure to it. But, in the last few months I have come to have a better feel of what ‘Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)‘ is about. I am still learning. There is a lot to it.

One key thing I have learned is that you can have ASD without having any obvious physical signs. So, there are no stereotypes when it comes to ASD. A person or child that looks perfectly normal (& healthy) and behaves more or less as expected can still have ASD. That is the key. ASD is a hidden ‘disease’. Some kids even learn to disguise their ASD (– which is not good, & rather sad).

World Autism Awareness Day, April 2 (of every year) is a good time for all of us to spend some time getting to know this disorder better — & seeing what we can do to help.

I just wanted to make sure YOU knew about it. Thank you.
