UNLIKE Memorial Day & Labor Day, Juneteenth is NOT a ‘every year on a Monday‘ Federal Holiday.
Juneteenth — per the name is on June 19.
Period.
It is like Christmas being on December 25th.
Celebrating Juneteenth on another day is nonsensical BUT that has ALREADY started to happen, in some states, given the U.S. with 3-day Holiday weekends. So YES, a few States are OBSERVING Juneteenth on the 3rd Friday of the year. That is STUPID.
Next time June 19th falls on a Monday is 2028. Five years from now. A Leap Year, in between, jogged that forward.
So, don’t get used to Juneteenth on Mondays. Next year & for the following few it will NOT be on a Monday. OK? Got that?
