It Is STUPID, Not To Mention Unacceptable, That In 2023 We Have A Catholic Cardinal, ‘John Njue’, Who Claims He Doesn’t Have A Birthday!

I do NOT buy it for a minute. It is just an AFFECTATION on his part. Shame on the Catholic Church for indulging him in his petty deception.

There is a CRUCIAL reason that he has to have a BIRTHDAY — particularly NOW!

He was born in 1944. Next year he turns 80, thus becoming a non-elector. When will that happen? December 31, 2024. Heck NO. That is NOT fair. That is NOT right.

Just tell us what is on his passport.

He couldn’t have got a passport without stating a birthdate. Not possible. IF he doesn’t know it he would be told to assume one.

Well, I am assigning one to him as of now: April 1, 1944.

He thinks he can continue to fool us. Well he can fool the ever gullible & feckless Catholic Church BUT I am not buying his nonsense. As far as I am concerned April 1 is the PERFECT birthday for him.

Njue is not the only cardinal whose exact date of birth is not known.
    Other cardinals were

    Maurice Otunga *January 1923 (+2003)
Emile Biayenda *1927 – only the year is known (+ 1977)
Dominc Ignatius Ekandem *1917 – no further details (+1995)
    Bernard Yago *July 1916 (+1997)

In African countries, the lack of a precisely determinable date is obviously not uncommon. In Ghana, for example, the authorities make do by setting 1 January or 31 December in such cases. It is possible that a similar approach is taken in Kenya.

How about contacting him and suggesting April 1…if he has a sense of humour, maybe he will answer.

      We are actually in AGREEMENT.
I don’t give a monkey’s that he doesn’t know his real birthday. He was probably born on the wrong side of the blanket, though supposedly we have the names of his parents.
We don’t know Jesus’ birthday either, but Church elders, very cleverly picked a good pagan holiday, & we all go along with it.
That is all I am asking. PICK a frigging date.
Don’t GAME the system — which is what he is doing.
The Curia is so incompetent. You would never have this kind of laxity even even a 20-strong US company. They would INSIST that he picks a bloody date.
It really should be Jan. 1. He could have been born on Jan. 1. Mathematically Jan. 1 has the same odds as any other day.
Maurice Otunga had the DECENCY to say ‘Jan’ & he aged out in Jan 2003 THOUGH I can’t find whether it was on Jan 1 or Jan 31. Either way, he still aged out in Jan.
NOT SO Njue. I bet he will cling on, like an African viper, until Dec. 31, 2024. I am going to do my darndest to make sure this doesn’t happen.
      *****
Emile was assassinated when he was 50. So, 30 years before the issue of aging out came up.
Dominic was getting close. He died 78.
      Bernard said July.
      *****
Of course I have tried to contact Njue. But he is in Africa. He probably doesn’t Internet.
I am going to start needling the curia. I think they have Internet, most of the time, at the Vatican — IF they pay their bills.
OK. We are in agreement. THANKS for providing those 4 names. I would never have had the time or patience to find those. Is that exhaustive? I guess we don’t have to go too far. No cardinals from 3rd world countries till the 1960s & no ‘illegitimates’ till after the 1970s. Thanks. Cheers. Pax. Anura

Out of curiosity, I looked for the first cardinal of whom the exact date of birth is known. This was Oliviero Carafa, who was appointed in 1467 and was an outspoken opponent of the Rodrigo Borja/Borgia election in the conclave of 1492.

As far as I have been able to get an overview, in the 20th and 21st centuries it was only these African cardinals mentioned who could be claimed to have a “questionable” date of birth.

I did e-mail. Why don’t YOU try. You can just send them a link to my post & tell them that the natives are up in arms. I am sure they will take notice of you. Thanks. Much appreciated. Cheers.

I must correct myself for the sake of truth; the first cardinal whose complete date of birth is known was
Antonio CORRER of Venice born July 15, 1359
who was made a Cardinal in 1408

I found, in 20 seconds, one born 60-years EARLIER! I thought you were good at this stuff. Hhhmmm. Pierre Bertrand, iuniore, bishop of Arras, France created May 19, 1344. Born: March 25, 1299.

Are YOU using my friend Salvador’s ‘Cardinals’ Website. I just clicked on a few 13C at random. My 2nd click. I really don’t have time. So, I was hoping you were doing the leg work.

No problem. No big deal. KEY POINT is that it is the Africans who are trying to GAME the system. SMILE.

So, do some proper research. Earliest pope, that I have found, with birthdate is my hero the elder (& the best) Borja, 12/31/1378. Wouldn’t that be typical of that rascal. Born on the last day of the year. Cheers.

Well, obviously I didn’t have a good day searching…be happy that you came out on top 😉

For such purposes I usually use the website of
        Salvador Miranda

As for the e-mail, we’ll wait and see what answer you get. If necessary, I will also contact them

It wasn’t a competition. Pure luck — BUT on a HUNCH. Had a HUNCH that the French might be good/better at keeping records, like birthdays.
Well, YOU KNOW what you now have to do. Start at 12C & see if you can find any earlier. I am sure there are. So, I am assigning you that task.
Glad you use Salvador’s site. The BEST, really the only one.
I assume YOU are good friends with Salvador. So, another task. I TRY & help Salvador with typos/errors on his Website. Have been doing that since 2009. Just talked to him a few days ago about a small error. He fixed it at once. MY PROBLEM, as ever, is one of time.
I notice that there are some TYPOS with the August 22, 2022. Misspellings etc. I really don’t have the time to point these out to Salvador. So, can you please go through it, starting with the LISTING … then through each entry. I went through, saw a few, but I was in a hurry since I was updating my Excel. So, be a good doobie & HELP SALVADOR out. Real nice guy. As you know I dedicated a book to him. He was very touched.
          Thanks. Pax.
I am off ambling again for the next few days. No posts. Cheers, Anura
P.S., I do NOT expect to hear at all, at all, from Africa. LoL. For a start EVEN IF THEY HAVE Internet … YOU should contact them. Take the credit. Plus, you could talk to them in Latin. That might be better than my poor English. So, PLEASE go for it.
