Yes, I am acutely aware, as I write this, that over the last few days I have recommended a number of ‘Netflix‘ offerings — with glowing praise. To be fair, that is because I have come across a batch of stuff, in quick succession, that are worthy of remark & publicity.

This too was a ‘Netflix‘ (AI) recommendation. And yet again they were spot on. I really enjoyed it. It was nothing like what I was expecting. Based on the trailer I had assumed that it was set in the U.S. I was wrong. It is set in Ireland. I, of course, knew of the ‘Great Potato Famine‘ but did not know any of the gory details. Learnt some from this movie.

The story revolves around FAITH. Lots of disturbing elements — but delicately presented. Amazing. 1860s. Different world. Different values. Different mindset.

Very clever production. Very clever. Well produced too. It is not a romance or a comedy. It is a serious movie. Some would call it dark. But, if you like movies that make you think & at the same time teaches you stuff, you will love this. Enjoy.
