YES. I just watched ‘Dark Waters‘, on ‘Netflix‘, with absolute amazement.

I think I might have seen it before … But, it sure was worth seeing it again.

Wow. Wow. Wow.

It is so good, INSPIRING & humbling to learn that we have DECENT MEN LIKE THIS, lawyers to boot, among us. What dedication. What COURAGE. What self-sacrifice. He has, quite rightly, earned a ton of awards — including what they refer to as an the ‘Alternative Nobel Prize‘. I can’t believe that the Catholic Church has NOT honored him — given that his faith is heavily portrayed.

I love learning about people like this, especially lawyers. I am NO STRANGER to lawyers. My surrogate father, in Ceylon, was a lawyer. He was an upstanding, very principled man — but, other than raising me, {as far as I know} he didn’t do too much to help others {other than the then customary small monetary donations to ‘charity’}. Over the years I have got to know quite a few lawyers — I even worked for a couple (doing their Websites). Some of them were GOOD, but none of them were SAINTS like this outstanding man (or this one, below). I am in AWE of both of them. I just wish we had MORE.

You really should watch the movie ‘Dark Waters‘. I am mystified that we still have ‘Teflon’! We shouldn’t. Please look into this. It will do YOU good.

‘Unfrosted’ (2024) Movie On ‘Netflix’, With ‘Jerry Seinfeld’ Is V. Clever, A HOOT — But Also Rather Stupid.

Obviously Seinfeld is NOT going to get ‘it’ wrong — & how can you fail with him acting & DIRECTING this movie.

It, indubitably, is incredibly CLEVER. Wow. There is an episode that satirizes ‘January 6’ & ‘Mike Pence’ that is so, so, brillant. Not sure how many will get it.

‘I have read some books about ‘Battle Creek‘, Michigan, & as such had some vague familiarity with the cereal wars & in particular “Kellogg’s” (in days gone by).’I have read some books about ‘Battle Creek‘, Michigan, & as such had some vague familiarity with the cereal wars & in particular ‘Kelloggs’ (in days gone by).

I can’t stress how CLEVER this movie is. It is also a hoot.

But, it, IMO it is satire gone wild. Maybe that was the whole point. Over the top satire — & who better to do that than the past mater Seinfeld. However, I couldn’t help but thinking that it was ‘stupid’ — but in a very nice way.

It is definitely enjoyable — though towards the end you can’t wait for it to end. You should give it a spin. I am sure you will enjoy it — or at least large chunks of it. Look out for the ‘January 6’ spoof.

‘The Beautiful Game’ (2024) Movie On ‘Netflix’ — Is OK. Just OK. Not Great. Too Contrived.

OK, I will confess that I had never heard of the ‘Homeless World Cup‘ & thought it was made up. Kind of cute that there is such an event. If it is popular, a success & does something to HELP the homeless (a cause very dear to my heart) I am all in favor.

I watched it because it was BRITISH, I like ‘Bill Nighy’ (though I had to look up his game) & because I usually like such ‘true story‘ movies.

It is definitely OK. Some lovely shots of Rome. But, it is also, JUST OK. Not great.

Contrived. But, hey …

I happened to see on the news that folks are enjoying it. Think it is a good ‘feel good‘ movie for Easter. Good for them. I won’t stand in there way.

Go for it. It is watchable.

‘The Thief Collector’ (2022) On ‘Prime Video’ Is Quite The Story. Rather Compelling. You Will Love It If You Are Into Art.

I was NOT aware of this story. Given that I am not that much into modern art, I also was NOT familiar with the artist or this painting (though I kind of think I have heard the name ‘Kooning‘).

This is QUITE the story. Though technically a ‘documentary’ (and billed as such), you can watch it like a crime movie. Very well done. I was impressed.

Check it out. Prime Video does have some good stuff. Every few weeks I take a break from ‘Netflix‘ and make a point of watching a few shows on Prime. There is definitely a different ‘feeling’ as to what you get on Prime vs. Netflix. Netflix offerings, on the whole, tend to be more ‘in your face’ … also more vibrant. Prime stuff tends to be more laid-back. That is my feeling. What do YOU think? Enjoy.

‘The Tourist’ (2024) Series On ‘Netflix’ (Set In Australia) — Waste Of Time, Ludicrous, Don’t Get Suckered In.

Towards the end of the 6 episode series you realize you were DUPED. Stupid, stupid STORY. Ludicrous. Pie-in-the-sky storyline. In episodes 5 & 6 a couple of the characters actually SAY IT — ‘all of this for just a million dollars’! Come on. Adult fairy tales. Too pat. Not believable. I am mad at myself that I allowed them to dupe me.

I like movies set in the Australian ‘bush’. Just appeals to me. Never been to Australia & I now know I never will. So, enjoy seeing bits of it in movies. Actually that applies to most countries. I watch a lot of movies/series just to get a better feel of a foreign country. On that front this show did not disappoint. Showed me parts & aspects of Australia that I had no idea about — e.g., THE OBESITY.

The first two episodes are decent. Suck you in. Promises much. Then it goes rapidly downhill. Absurd. Yes, I will admit, it does have some REALLY FUNNY parts. Borderline comedy!

Don’t bother watching it. I hear they are working on sequel — set in Ireland. I am NOT going to watch that. SMILE.

I Had Not Idea Australia Had An OBESITY Problem Until I Started Watching ‘The Tourist’ (2024) On ‘Netflix’.

It will write about ‘The Tourist‘ once I finished watching all six episodes — in the next couple of days. Quite the STORY. Quite the show. Wow.

But, 20 minutes into Episode 1 I realized that they were showing a LOT — & I mean a LOT — of fat & obese people. Initially it looked like a joke. I was like “no way”. Australians aren’t fat. But, they showed so many, I had to Google it. I was blown away. WOW.

I then even asked an Australian friend. He, this morning, CONFIRMED it. Wow. Australians.

‘The Hill’ (2023) Movie On ‘Netflix’: That It Is A True Story Makes It Inspirational & Uplifting. I Liked It.

I usually get bored & despair of ‘God movies’. Not so in this case. The ‘God‘ aspect is rather fascinating and illuminating. I could never, ever, have that level or kind of faith & belief. It intrigues me to watch people like that. WOW.

What makes this SPECIAL is that you are told, from the start, that it is based on a TRUE STORY. I like inspirational movies based on REAL LIFE. This sure is that.

Inspirational & uplifting. Not hard to watch. I recommend it — without hesitation.

‘Queenpins’ (2021) Movie On ‘Netflix’: Definitely Entertaining (Though Based On True Story).

Definitely enjoyed it. Was amusing from the get go. Definite TWO THUMBS up.

Amazing that it is based on a true story — but I can see how it came to be.

No reservations recommending this. You are NOT going to blame me. You will THANK me. Give it a spin. Let it wash over you.

Bravo for all those involved.

‘The Commuter’ (2018) Movie On ‘Netflix’: Atrociously BAD — Totally & Utterly Implausible. AVOID.

Starts off very promising & the storyline premise is pretty compelling.

But then, 20-minutes in it starts getting implausible.

The technical errors to do with how trains work are numerous & egregious. How they could make a movie like this is 2018 defies comprehension.

To cap it all the Computer Generated Graphics are dreadful. A 6-year old kid must have done it. Also use see a STRAY, ghostly hand during one of the stunts! Very poor. Very disappointing.

One of the WORST movies I have seen in some time. Yikes.

Sometimes, trite, cliche or otherwise, NICE is the ONLY — and BEST — way to describe something that is genuinely, heartwarmingly NICE. If YOU are of a certain age or temperament YOU will understand and appreciate that.

Some things are JUST NICE.

Trying to use another word, or describe it in another way is FUTILE.

THIS MOVIE IS JUST NICE. VERY NICE.

If you like ‘nice’ this is for you. You will not be dissapointed. All you would wish is that there is a sequel.

I am not that much into mushy movies, even in my old age. But, this movie really struck a chord. Just nice. Nicest Christmas movie I can ever remember watching.

Yes, by Netflix standards, it is NOW OLD. But, it was just released on Netflix.

IF you LIKE NICE, watch this movie. You WILL THANK ME. Smile.

Yes, it is true that this year I am more into Christmas than ever. SMILE. Check this out too. Again, you will not be dissapointed.
