I heard about this painting, this morning, on ‘BBC‘. I was skeptical. Had to look it up — & I did. I am still skeptical.
Collector bought it, online, from a London gallery for $37,000 last year.
Initially authenticated by ONE ‘expert’. Then by AI?
But, just three days earlier I had seen this:
Just seems too good to be true. It just doesn’t sit well with me. Plus, to my UNTRAINED eye it doesn’t have the usual delicate magic of a Raphael. Kind of a spooky image.
Well, you decide. I just wanted to share the story & my doubts with YOU.
I am going. YES, I have (as usual) a Front Row Balcony, seat. {SMILE}
Not sure I am going to really like it!
I am a sucker for REAL, classical Gregorian chant. That is what caught my eye when I saw ads for this show. But, I have since found that this will not be classical chants but a modern version. Well, I will give it a try. I am sure I will like at least some of it.
I will, of course, let you know. That will be for sure.
To say I am HUGE FAN of JTG just doesn’t cut it. It is fun of the BEST musical events in New Hampshire (hands down) & indubitably the BEST VALUE for money. Great, great food with fantastic music thrown in — in the company of some of the nicest folks you could ever want to meet. Plus it is for a GOOD CAUSE. [See below.]
“To reach the family’s fundraising goal of $4,000 and award up to four $1000 scholarships, Giuseppe’s always conducts a raffle for a chance to win an outstanding new guitar for a $20 raffle ticket. This year’s prize is a Breedlove ECO Pursuit Exotic Concert Acoustic-Electric Guitar, hand-crafted from Amber Myrtlewood, valued at $750. This is a limited raffle, with only 100 tickets being sold. Raffle tickets are on sale now at Giuseppe’s Pizzeria & Ristorante, at Mill Falls Marketplace. The winning guitar raffle ticket will be drawn when all 100 tickets are sold, or the end of the Show on Sunday, May 5, whichever occurs first. Raffle ticket holders need not be present to win.”
More to come.

This soothing song. beautifully rendered, was done as a SPECIAL tribute to Vietnam vets — to make amends. They did a very nice segment, just for those vets — making those present stand up. I happened to be seated next to one (he served during the War but was never sent abroad (but he still counts as a vet of that era)). It was good.
As some of you know, video is NOT my medium or thing. But, with this I felt obliged to record — just so that I can share it with you. Please enjoy.
I got the above, a few days ago, in an e-mail. It was sad & distressing. After a 7- or 8-year break, I did go to the ‘Christmas Revels‘ by ‘Revels North’ in 2023. I, as I had done for a few years in the past, went to BOTH ‘Revels North’ & ‘Revels Cambridge‘.
Revels North, way back, c. 1998, was how I got into Revels — now a cherished, much longed for annual ritual. They used to do GRAND show.
This is a shame.
Revels Cambridge is THRIVING. They are just selling $300 tickets for a PUB event! As you might know I, a few weeks ago, attended their Spring Equinox event. That was good.
I feel bad for Revels North. They are in bad shape.
I hope they can get out of the ‘hole’ they are in. The Christmas Revels is the SHOWCASE for any Revels outfit. IF you don’t stage that, you will have trouble attracting attention.
But, I wish Revels North all the very best. I might even contact ‘Alex’ (who I know) & have a chat.
OK, I will confess that I had never heard of the ‘Homeless World Cup‘ & thought it was made up. Kind of cute that there is such an event. If it is popular, a success & does something to HELP the homeless (a cause very dear to my heart) I am all in favor.
I watched it because it was BRITISH, I like ‘Bill Nighy’ (though I had to look up his game) & because I usually like such ‘true story‘ movies.
It is definitely OK. Some lovely shots of Rome. But, it is also, JUST OK. Not great.
Contrived. But, hey …
I happened to see on the news that folks are enjoying it. Think it is a good ‘feel good‘ movie for Easter. Good for them. I won’t stand in there way.
I missed the last time‘Revels’ (Cambridge) featured some Indian dancing. I do get to see a fair amount of Indian dancing in New Hampshire, but I just have a feel that there will be a different je ne sais quoi in a Revels setting with ‘David Coffin‘ clapping off-stage.
I am HOPING that I can go. I haven’t got tickets yet, but I will as soon as I have a better idea as to what my week looks like.
I was NOT aware of this story. Given that I am not that much into modern art, I also was NOT familiar with the artist or this painting (though I kind of think I have heard the name ‘Kooning‘).
This is QUITE the story. Though technically a ‘documentary’ (and billed as such), you can watch it like a crime movie. Very well done. I was impressed.
Check it out. Prime Video does have some good stuff. Every few weeks I take a break from ‘Netflix‘ and make a point of watching a few shows on Prime. There is definitely a different ‘feeling’ as to what you get on Prime vs. Netflix. Netflix offerings, on the whole, tend to be more ‘in your face’ … also more vibrant. Prime stuff tends to be more laid-back. That is my feeling. What do YOU think? Enjoy.
