Caught me off-guard, on the hop. IT, very much an astrological holiday (based on the astronomical ‘sighting’ of the new moon, is early this year. Most years it falls on April 14. In my mind ‘April 14’ is New Year. ‘April 13’ (which was the birthday of my maternal grandmother (who brought me up) was the OLD NEW YEAR. This year Old New Year is TODAY. Ooops. Yes, I have been busy (& yes, it is another book). So, I lost sight of it.

Well, not a total loss. I still managed to catch the New Year.

So, Happy New Year.

Those are my ADOPTIVE parents — lighting oil lamps (something we did for New Year). I don’t think these pictures are from New Year. My father is wearing a suit. Though he wore one OFTEN, he wouldn’t be wearing one for New Year. We usually spent ALL of Old New Year and the start of the New Year at home. When at home my father always dressed informally.

Well, Happy New Year.

I LOVE stock splits that give me MORE opportunity for option trading — my acknowledged addiction. When I heard of the 50-to-1 SPLIT I knew I had to buy some. With that split I only needed 2 shares to give me the necessary 100 shares for BIG BOY, ‘proper’ option trading.

Markets were down today. Chipotle was down just over 1%. 1% down is usually my threshold for buying a stock on the dip. I only needed 2. I bought 4, 2 for I … 2 for my 18 year old daughter (in her account). I might buy a few more prior to the split. Plenty of time.

As I have PROVED, contrary to what you might hear/read in the media there is NO ‘ex-‘ date for a split. Yes, you will hear folks talking of an ‘ex-‘ date & people will buy ahead of that. Then, the price drops AFTER that ‘ex-‘ date. I swoop in. SMILE. Pays to have my experience and savvy.

Chipotle is the ONLY NON-TECH I own! Ditto my daughter given that I do her investments. I LOVE TECH. I understand tech. I have done OK with tech.

My daughter of late has started eating at Chipotle. She is fussy as to what she eats and where she will eat. So, that was slight incentive. I like her to OWN shares in companies she uses, i.e., Amazon, Netflix, Google, Microsoft. Makes sense. SMILE.

I, of course, KNEW that traffic would be back — especially on the way back — BUT it exceed all expectations. IT WAS BAD. REAL BAD.

I was worried that traffic would be bad going UP. It wasn’t, other than for about 90 minutes, ahead of ‘Gorham’ where Rte 16 meets with Rte 2. It was just that junction. The rest of the time it wasn’t too bad. But, as I was driving up … and up … and up, I could see all the folks that were ALREADY there. So, I knew that they all had to leave. post eclipse.

As you know, I watched the TOTALITY from ‘Dixville Notch‘ (a place that I like).

A lot of people by me left RIGHT after the TOTALITY. I didn’t see the point in that — PLUS I wanted the entire experience. I waited till it was well and truly done. Then I tried to go back the same way I had come up, i.e, via ‘Errol’. Well, that didn’t work out. I turned back. Went to ‘Colebrook’. I had never been there. Some traffic getting there. I parked on the outskirts of town and walked in. I walked around and decided to have dinner there — at an American Chinese. It was OK. They were nice enough. I stayed there till 7pm THINKING traffic would thin out.

It didn’t.

I didn’t get home till close to 1am on Tuesday.

I had left at 8:40am on Monday.

But, it was well worth it. I would do it AGAIN. SMILE.

Feel bad for all of YOU who missed TOTALITY.
