What I have done is added ‘who created whom‘ data. I like to have that. I was rather surprised to find that Salvador did NOT provide these numbers on a regular or consistent basis. Given all the data I have, & my still somewhat ‘OK’ numeracy, it wasn’t that difficult to interpolate back to January 1, 2023. From that point it was just grunt work. Some of you will find this data interesting & useful. It shows how the influence of the 3 popes ebbs and flows.

This is still a work in progress. Unlike dear Salvador I have other interests, other projects, other commitments …. But, please give me time. I will slowly improve on what we have. IF you can HELP, please let me know. Thanks.

The invaluable ‘Salvador Miranda’ Cardinals website went dark a year ago.

Last time we heard from dear Salvador — June 28, 2023.
Last time he updated the Website — May 8, 2023.

While I have NO intention of trying to emulate ALL that dear Salvador did, I do want to try and maintain an ACCURATE record of the CHANGES to the College.

Salvador’s website will EVER remain good for everything
UP TO 2023.

What I will do is maintain a list (in the form of one of my famed ‘magic’ Excel spreadsheets) of all the changes — i.e., creations, deaths, aging outs & expulsions — as of Jan. 1, 2023. So, this is the start.

The spreadsheet is done. It has some HIDDEN columns. Plus, I plan to add a few more. No point maintaining a magic Guruge spreadsheet IF I don’t milk as much data as I can. I will calculate days between changes, days between deaths, obituary demographic, etc.

This is still a work in progress. Unlike dear Salvador I have other interests, other projects, other commitments …. But, please give me time. I will slowly improve on what we have. IF you can HELP, please let me know. Thanks.

This is in memory of my friend Salvador.

I dedicated my 2020, encyclopedic, 518-page ‘The Conclave‘ book to Salvador.

I am glad I did. He was chuffed.

While I have NO intention of trying to emulate ALL that dear Salvador did, I do want to try and maintain an ACCURATE record of the CHANGES to the College.

Keeping dear Salvador’s list up to-date.

Last time we heard from dear Salvador — June 28, 2023.
Last time he updated the Website — May 8, 2023.

It is now close to a year since dear Salvador’s invaluable ‘Cardinals’ Website went dark.

During this time I have made numerous attempts to directly contact Salvador (via phone & e-mail) and to get an update on him. I have failed, miserably. I fear the worst. I check the local papers. Nothing that I can find. IF you know something please let me know.

By now the Website is out-of-date when it comes to what has happened in the last 11 months.

There is NO way I can update it.

But, as YOU know I am providing comprehensive Cardinal Elector demographics — with detail not even available on the Website. So, that helps (& is a consolation).

I needed to look up some necrology stuff. Of course, I couldn’t, any longer, rely on Salvador’s list. Yes, both ‘gcatholic’ & ‘catholic hierarchy’ have necrology lists — but they are NOT restricted just to cardinals. I just want the cardinals. Truth be known, I just want the cardinal electors.

So, starting today I will maintain a CARDINAL OBITUARY list. This is the start. I will put the 21st century data, from Salvador, into a spreadsheet & then BUILD upon that. OK?

I needed to know the elector demographics BY COUNTRY. I decided to extract it from my MAGIC Excel spreadsheet rather than trying to get it from a Website. That way I can be sure it was right. Learned about the Excel =UNIQUE function. Made getting the data a piece of cake. Amazing how powerful Excel has become. I am GLAD.

Given we have another elector (viz. Maestrojuán) aging out on Feb. 24, 2024, I updated this as of the next day, i.e., February 25, 2024.

I now also have some new ‘Francis’ columns since I want to see how many votes his camp could get. So, check that out.

With what WAS the invaluable ‘Salvador Miranda’ ‘Cardinals Website’ now MAJORLY out-of-date, I had to do something in order to stay abreast with where we stood with the Cardinal Electors. [Salvador LAST UPDATED his website (ALAS) on May 8, 2023.] I also noticed that the usually very reliable ‘Catholic Hierarchy’ Website has NOT updated its ‘cardinal elector’ page as Jan. 30, 2024. We had one elector age-out yesterday. This is NOT reflected — right now.

Given we have another elector (viz. Maestrojuán) aging out on Feb. 24, 2024, I updated this as of the next day, i.e., February 25, 2024.

I now also have some new ‘Francis’ columns since I want to see how many votes his camp could get. So, check that out.

With what WAS the invaluable ‘Salvador Miranda’ ‘Cardinals Website’ now MAJORLY out-of-date, I had to do something in order to stay abreast with where we stood with the Cardinal Electors. [Salvador LAST UPDATED his website (ALAS) on May 8, 2023.]

I have had this Excel for over a decade — but I have NOT been diligent about keeping it updated. I could always rely on (my dear friend) Salvador to provide me with the data.

NOT SO, now.

So, over the last few days I updated the Excel. It appears to add up. I have numerous checks to make sure that it all adds up. BUT, PLEASE CHECK.

NOW the ONLY RELIABLE website for BASIC cardinal demographics is ‘Catholic Hierarchy‘. It tends to be very up-to-date, but the data is LIMITED. Please do NOT trust any other sites — at least at present. Got that.

The observant among you will have noticed that I have an OFFSET feature. That means I can ADVANCE the date — 30-days, 45-days … whatever FORWARD. That way I can see what the demographics look like going forward. SMILE. The joys of having TWO degrees in Computer Technology!

Of course all of the treasure trove of HISTORIC DATA remains germane, valid & priceless.

It is only ongoing data, especially to do with the Cardinal Electors, that starts to suffer. So, already, in the 3-months, we have had two electors age out. And this will continue to happen monthly as of now. Plus, we have the new consistory coming up.

Luckily we haven’t had any cardinal deaths since March 2023. That will also impact the data.

I tried to call Salvador yesterday. Got voice-mail. I didn’t leave a message. I have sent him two e-mails. I don’t won’t to pester him.

So, this is just a heads up.

I will continue marking up changes here — in case it helps YOU.

The good news is that he is back. As I had pointed out, earlier in June, he add not updated his invaluable site since May 8, 2023. I had noticed & had been keeping an eye.

I was aware of Salvador’s cardiac issues & had kind of realized that he had been sidelined. This was confirmed when he did not respond to my ‘are you OK‘ e-mail — as he usually does.

So, now we know.

I did send him an e-mail earlier today. His inbox is likely be be beyond brimming full. So, I am not expecting to hear from him any time soon. I also pointed out that he doesn’t have that much updating to do. Not much has changed on the Cardinals front in the last few months. If needed I will help him (as I sometimes do).
