Volunteering at these games was the MOST WONDERFUL thing I had done in ages. It was so REWARDING. What a GREAT bunch of people, especially the kids. Wow. The kids were phenomenal — so polite, so enthusiastic, so engaging, so cooperative. I just couldn’t get enough. And the other volunteers. It was awesome & humbling.

As some of you know, I am no stranger to volunteering & putting service above self. What struck me the most was that there were NO egos, no politics! The volunteers were there for the games & THE KIDS. That is all that counter. I met & interacted with some wonderful people. WOW. Made my day.

Yes, I have already signed up for 2 more days of volunteering for them. Will do MORE if I can.

This is GREAT CAUSE. If you can, you should help out too.

This soothing song. beautifully rendered, was done as a SPECIAL tribute to Vietnam vets — to make amends. They did a very nice segment, just for those vets — making those present stand up. I happened to be seated next to one (he served during the War but was never sent abroad (but he still counts as a vet of that era)). It was good.

As some of you know, video is NOT my medium or thing. But, with this I felt obliged to record — just so that I can share it with you. Please enjoy.

‘Kathmandu Bazaar’, Concord, NH — Ideal For A Light Indian Lunch.

Today was my second time for lunch there, be it 4-years apart — BUT we did have COVID intervening. I like it — which obviously is why I went back.

Light fare. Not your full Indian/Nepali menu. Small kitchen. One person doing all the work. Kind of self-serve from the counter. Informal.

But, it is GOOD. Only 3 small tables and a few stools at the counter. No wine.

I was meeting a friend for lunch. It as at 1pm. So the place wasn’t that busy. Yes, people coming and going but we had a quiet table for an in-depth chat. I ordered some extra Samosas and Momo to bring home.

Given that I avoid carbs, this is menu is good for me — though Samosas (one of my many weaknesses) is, of course, NOT good for I. Smile.

Just a cursory sampling. They have a LOT more. I just didn’t get around. Had a lot to do. Enjoy.

This is what I wanted the hitch for.

Yes, it took U-Haul close to 3-months to get this hitch but it was not all their fault. Their suppliers kept on letting us down. I ordered the hitch in mid-September 2022 & they, i.e., U-Haul in Concord, NH, only got it in mid-December 2022. During that time I got to know many of the folks at that U-Haul location. THEY WERE OUTSTANDING. A great bunch of human beings; helpful, courteous & professional. I will never go anywhere else for another hitch OR anything else I can get from U-Haul.

I was very impressed & pleased.

They did a nice job & the pricing was outstanding. Yes, they gave me quite the discount to compensate for the delay. [I bought a few accessories from them to makeup for that.]

I needed a hitch for my new Mazda CX-30 so that I can attach a small cargo carrier platform. Well I finally have a hitch & I used the platform that very day. It all worked great. I am very happy.

Click to ENLARGE. I said this in 2016 too. They have the LATEST & GREATEST technology.

Yep, & ALAS, flashes in my RIGHT eye — this time. In November last year it was in my left. At least this year I had a slightly better idea of what to expect & was not as panicked as last time — which was good because this time, as is my luck, it was on a Saturday. BUT, I lucked out & they, to my gratitude, helped me out — yet again, the 2nd time in 13-months.

Flashes, in my peripheral vision (in my right eye (just like micro lightning strikes)) started straight after I got back from my 4-mile morning walk (this time in the rain). I initially thought it was raindrops dripping off my hair. Alas that was not the case.

It was just past 12:30pm on Saturday when I called them. They were closing at 1pm.

I babbled on, & they got the gist. I wanted to be seen as soon as possible. They said ‘come in at 9am Monday‘! Wow. Wow. Wow. I could not have asked for any better given that it was a weekend. They also told me that I could go to an ER BUT I knew that that would be a waste of time.

When I had had my (very successful) cataract surgery, a year and a half ago, I had been WARNED to be on the lookout for flashes & floaters. So, as soon as I start seeing them, I know I need to be on alert.

I was there at 8:50.

I was so relieved to be checked out so quickly & PROFICIENTLY by Dr. Tyler Webber.

Last year, in my left eye, I had ‘Vitreous Detachment’ (due to old age) as opposed to anything more serious. That was a relief though anything can now happen …

This time around, things are a tad better. No detachment as yet — & they really have the best technology for checking eye-health. Their equipment is so much newer & fancier than in Boston!

I need to stay alert. Monitor my eyes. Well, since last year I have been on the watch.

I would like to SHARE this with YOU. Don’t ignore flashes or floaters in your eyes. They could be the first sign of something bad going on inside your eye. Go see an eye doctor. Go see Dr. Webber & Capital Vision Center if you can.

In closing, let me just stress, that if you are in Central New Hampshire, you cannot go wrong by opting for ‘Capital Vision Center’, Concord, for all your eye care. We do & we are delighted.

Getting A Hitch Installed By ‘U-Haul’ Was NOT A Hitchless Experience. Disappointed.

I need a hitch for my new Mazda CX-30 so that I can attach a small cargo carrier platform. The dealership, ‘Seacoast Mazda‘, was not in the least helpful. Basically blew me away. Said they couldn’t be bothered! So, I had to look at other alternatives.

I, as is inevitable, kind of knew that ‘U-Haul‘ did hitch installations. A quick Google confirmed this. So, I went to them online.

On Tuesday, September 20, 2022, the day after I got the CX-30, I placed at online order with them for a 2″ hitch. That part was easy enough & their prices were GOOD. I was impressed. I had asked for a Friday (Sept. 23) installation, but noticed that the EARLIEST that they would give me was Wednesday, September 28, 2022. I worked out, eventually, that they needed that lead time to get the hitch to Concord, NH for installation, i.e., it was not in stock & had to be ordered.

I was given a 2pm installation appointment for Sept. 28. I was all set. At 10am I get a call from them saying that they DON’T have the hitch! Ah! They also had NO TRACKING (i.e., FedEx) data. Basically the hitch had not shipped as yet, i.e., FedEx had NOT picked it up as yet. So, there was NO delivery time! Not good.

I had to go to Concord anyway. I had arranged to pick up a new microwave from ‘Best Buy’. So, I stopped by U-Haul. Neat operation & the ‘young kid’ was as helpful as he could be. But, he agreed that he had NO idea when the hitch would ship — let alone get delivered. So, I cancelled the whole order & SUPPOSEDLY got a refund on my credit card (which I have yet to see). Bottom line: I still don’t have a hitch.

Did a little more digging when I got home. I now see that U-Haul is claiming that the hitch I need will not be in stock till October 10, 2022! Why didn’t they tell me that earlier. Not good. Not happy.

Why Spend $100s Fixing Your Broken Sideview Mirror When This Looks So Cute & Cool?

Seen in ‘Concord‘, New Hampshire this afternoon opposite ‘Staples’.

Wow. It was a New Hampshire car. I first thought that it had to have been from Maine. No. I was wrong. Not Maine; definitely New Hampshire. Has to be osmosis.

I guess it must work — just about. Not sure whether it is legal.

It was cute. Like the shocking PINK.

But, also SAD. I feed bad & sorry. Yes, I know how much it costs to get one of these suckers fixed. I, however, also learnt of a secret. IF you just crack or break the mirror — but not the housing (or mechanism) — a glass repair company will replace just the mirror for 1/6 the price for a new unit. Check that out.

I was singing their praises 5.5 years ago. Click image to access my post from 2016.

Click to ENLARGE. They are not kidding. They jump into action to help YOU.

Click to ENLARGE. I said this in 2016 too. They have the LATEST & GREATEST technology.

We, meaning all 4 of us, have been going to them for years (& years). We think of them, ‘Donna’ in particular, as family. They, all three doctors together & the exceptional support staff, have taken wonderful care of us. We trust them, we respect them & we know they will take care of us.

On Wednesday morning, they, again, proved why we love them & think they are the best.

I was BEYOND panicked. I was having flashes & floaters in my left eye. I have never had flashes or floaters in either of my eyes prior to this. Moreover, when I had had my (very successful) cataract surgery, 11.5 months earlier, I had been WARNED to be on the lookout for flashes & floaters. So, as soon as I started seeing them, I knew that something was not right.

I wanted to be checked out as quickly as possible.

I called Donna as early as I could. She immediately said come over. Dr. Webber will make time to see you.

I went down. They took pictures of my eyes with some fancy (very expensive) machines. They don’t stint on equipment. They have the latest, the greatest & the best. I can tell you that there are ‘fancy’ places in Boston that don’t have anything that comes close. I tell them about what they have in Concord & they say “yes, we have HEARD of such machines!” So, we are FORTUNATE that we can have access to this level of modern technology in Concord. THANK YOU ‘Capital Vision Center’. You folks are the best.

I was so relieved to be checked out so quickly & PROFICIENTLY by Dr. Tyler Webber.

That what I had was ‘Vitreous Detachment’ (due to old age) as opposed to anything more serious was a HUGE relief. I am not out of the woods, BUT at least I am in with a fighting chance. To get that diagnosis, & reassurance, so quickly, in Concord, was WONDERFUL.

In closing, let me just stress, that if you are in Central New Hampshire, you cannot go wrong by opting for ‘Capital Vision Center’, Concord, for all your eye care. We do & we are delighted.
