‘Russian Orthodox Church’ Makes It Very Clear That It Is Ultra-Partisan.

I happened to hear of this 3-year suspension of the Priest who attended poor “Alexei Navalny’s” burial on the BBC yesterday — & was quite shocked. I don’t pay that much attention to this Church and as such had NOT realized that it was flagrantly & unashamedly partisan. Wow. Quite the thing.

I know that Pope Francis has had some dealings with ‘Patriarch Kirill‘. I find it hard to comprehend how the Catholic Church could reconcile this level of partisanship — in the 21st century. But, then again they had the Papal States. Plus, as we kind of suspect, Francis is somewhat sympathetic with Russia.

Well, this is outside of my real scope of interest & coverage — BUT I wanted to make sure that you heard about it. Now you have.

They are NOT related. IF they were, Japan’s birth rate would be INCREASING, as opposed to decreasing, since the MAJOR cause for rhino poaching is the STUPID belief by some Asians that rhino horns are aphrodisiacs. Haven’t they heard of ‘Viagra‘. Much less expensive & save the poor rhinos.

I happened to hear these two stories, back-to-back, on the ‘BBC‘ this morning. I try to listen to ‘BBC News‘, on ‘Sirius XM‘, at least once a day, because I like to know what is happening in the world — that doesn’t get covered in the U.S. news.

I knew about Japan’s natality woes. I can’t say it bothers me much. SORRY. I have enough other things to worry about — like poor rhinos getting killed. I am disappointed that this is happening in South Africa — but I appreciate that there are HUGE amounts of money at play.

Well, I wanted to bring these two stories to your attention since I wasn’t sure whether you listen to world news on the BBC. You really should. It is eye opening.

Given that I watch a movie on ‘Netflix‘ most nights, & have done so for 2-years, their AI has got me well pegged. So, this came as recommended by them. To be fair I tend to shy away from most series, preferring movies instead, because I don’t want to make the time commitment. So, I didn’t jump on it right away. But, I would see it on my home page near daily. Eventually, a few days ago, I took the plunge. I am so glad I did.

Exceedingly clever. Some very profound saying. Parts are pleasingly cerebral. Kind of Sherlock Holmesly. But, alas, some bits are amusingly implausible. But, the overall package is brilliant. 4, short (I think 40-minute) episodes. So, quite quick.

I don’t want to spoil the story. It is good & there are lots of twists & turns.

P.S., I need to do some research as to how much money a British CofE vicar makes. This guys has a pretty lavish lifestyle & what has to be rather expensive house.

This is GREAT. This is brilliant. This is why I am so proud & happy to be a Brit. The BBC. What a wonderful institution. Nothing even close anywhere else in the world.

Yes, there will be a lot of shortwave radios still around in Russia & Ukraine.

Way to go the BBC. Thank you. You remain the true ‘Voice of the World.

I just happened to hear about this, on today’s 11pm ‘BBC News‘ — albeit in the context of India. They have declared it an epidemic. That is not good.

As far as I can see Mucormycosis is not an issue of concern in the U.S. as yet. But, as you can see above diabetics are particularly susceptible & we have a LOT of diabetics — especially among the non-caucasians (& I am thinking, in particular, about my beloved Navajo).

Well, we don’t want to get blindsided again. So, we better bone up on this ASAP & find how we are going to combat it. I don’t think we can bury our heads in the sand. Like the COVID variants this is likely to find its way to the U.S.

This could be serious. Folks are losing eyes!

You must remember the movies!

In case you are a bit sketchy as to where ‘Madagascar’ is. We (meaning us Sri Lankans) have an affinity with them in that they are also an island and there is just ocean that separates us.

I just happened to hear about this dreadful famine on the 11pm BBC News (during my late-night, 1-mile walk). First time I had heard (or read) about it. I did a search on ‘Google News‘ as soon as I got home. Wow. This is bad. This is sad. We really should send beaucoup aid ASAP.

If nothing else ‘we’ owe them for the movies. I am sure that many Americans can only relate to ‘Madagascar’ in the context of those movies (the first two at least which were very good).

Well, as ever, I wanted to bring this to your attention. Now that I know of it, I will try to monitor what we are doing in terms of helping these poor folks.
