It would be stupid & disingenuous to deny it. It sure was the label that caught my eye — & you have to admit that it is provocatively eye-catching.

That it was Cabernet Sauvignon & Merlot then piqued my interest. I am partial to both & they tend to be the two type I buy the most. Then, I read the back. “No Butts About it” made it irresistible. I had to get it. That they claimed it was ‘full bodied’ & ‘fruity’ was a bonus. Those are attributes I look for in a wine. So, I bought a bottle — in ‘Poughkeepsie‘, NY.

They are true to their words, no butts about it. Fruity, full-bodied & smooth. Goes down easily — which, alas, is a problem because I have severely cut back on my wine consumption after becoming pre-diabetic. I drink 1/6th of what I used to! I can no longer claim to be an alcoholic. Not happy about that. I liked being an alcoholic. Well …

Give it a try. If you like red wine I am sure you will enjoy it.

Macron’s BOLD & far-reaching comments re. the war in Ukraine, over the last few days, have NOT got the coverage in the U.S. they merit. The media is too busy covering the stupid, pointless Trump court case — though I can assure you, today, that it will end up with a HUNG JURY.

Churchill agitated about Hitler for years AHEAD of WWII. People ignored him. Called him a warmonger. But, he was RIGHT. If not for him I would writing this in German!

Macron is doing the right thing. BRAVO. Way to go. He has spunk. I have always had a sneaking respect for him. Clever guy.

Now my respect for him has grown immensely. He is the only world leader we currently have who has the guts to tackle this problem. Biden is beyond weak. Such a disgrace & disappointment.

I am totally behind Macron.

Viva la de France. Viva la Macron.

Yes, I understand the need. I am big fan of TIME.

Life is time. Time is life.

Yes, yes, yes. I know quite a bit about how and why time got standardized on earth. Yes, it had to do with the railways. Get all of that. {I also note that we currently don’t have a train service on the moon.}

My only point. Come on. Yes, I appreciate that science must go on. But, right now. The White House has other MORE URGENT problems.

That is my only point.

When we have PEACE in Ukraine & Gaza let’s get back to this.

I am a news junkie. I check ‘Google News‘ & the U.K. ‘Daily Mail’, multiple times a day, to see what is new. These two stories came up, kind of back-to-back, on Google.

WOW.

Not sure whether to believe the first. But, the SECOND is verifiable (by others (of course)) and as such must have (at a minimum) a modicum of truth.

I am just bringing them to your attention.

I am NOT Catholic (thank God). SMILE.

[But, I do care about Ukraine.]

I am sure a lot of Catholics worldwide are very happy to hear about this.

Good on Ya, Pope. Way to go.

It would be nice IF he schedules a trip to Russia. Putin would love that.

Never mind what Jesus would say.

I am more interested in what John Paul II or John XXIII would have said. Or even ‘Paul VI’, ‘John Paul I’ or ‘Benedict XV’ (not XVI).

I am nonplussed.

Yes, in May of last year some had started to worry that he might become “Putin’s Pope”.

I have often said that Francis is very like Trump!

There are a couple of ‘S’ words that readily spring to my mind as I sit here stewing about Francis and this stupid statement. One of these ‘S’ words is SENILE.

You could easily call John Paul II the ASTUTE POPE. He was that.

So, this is how I see things at this time:

John XXIII — the GOOD pope.

Paul VI — the DIPLOMAT pope.

John Paul I — the SMILING pope.

John Paul II — the ASTUTE pope.

Benedict XVI — the SCHOLARLY pope.

Francis — the UNASTUTE pope.

Prove me WRONG.

I/WE STAND WITH UKRAINE. No bloody white flag.

Ukraine CANCELLED Christmas in 2022.

I talked about that in my Christmas book (above).

This was BRILLIANT, absolutely brilliant. Cracked me up when I heard about it yesterday.

Very pointed & direct message — actually an insult — to Russia. ‘Putin‘ is said to attend church.

Way back, on February 25, 2022, at the start of this sorry invasion of Ukraine by bloody Russia I was so happy & impressed that Pope Francis made the unprecedented move of personally going to lodge his concerns with the Russian Ambassador to the Vatican. Alas, in the intervening two-months, as his health & well-being continues to decline his posture towards Russia has started to waver.

He needs to be CAREFUL. Very careful. We have, alas, already had Hitler’s Pope. Rome, however hard you try to gloss over the facts, did NOT come out well re. its posture & actions during WWII. Now, Francis, who should no better, is walking on thin ice.

NO, NATO is no way is responsible.

To even allude to that is STUPID & ignorant. Unbecoming of a reasonable adult, let alone a Pope.

Yes, Francis is old, possibly flirting with senality. Then there is also the fact that he, as I have repeatedly pointed out, is the ‘Donald Trump’ of popes. To him, it is NOT THE OFFICE, it is all about the ‘cult of personality’. He doesn’t see himself as Pope — and we know he relinquished ALL of the historic titles given to a Pope. He sees himself as this Pop Star — Pope Francis, The Man. Donald Trump in a while cassock. So, yes, he likes to say the darnest things to get publicity. He, like Trump, really doesn’t care.

I am, as you can tell, NOT amused.

Francis is crazy to blame this on NATO.

European leaders should have some harsh words for him.

Yes, he lives in an independent state that is NOT a NATO member.

But he is totally surrounded by Italy, a staunch NATO member. He should just remember that.

All of his powers & bluster are restricted to the Vatican. He is just a man when he steps into Italy. SMILE.

Sombre & Sobering ‘May Day 2022’ In Light Of What Is Happening In Ukraine.

‘May Day’, ‘May 1’, of each year, has different connotations to different people depending on their background and beliefs. Fundamentally, it is a ‘holiday’ that celebrates the coming of Spring in the Northern Hemisphere. Hence, the ‘Maypole’ & ‘Morris Dancing’, etc. in Britain. See YouTube videos below.

Then we also have ‘May Day’ as a celebration of WORKERS (& by extrapolation socialism). Yes, Russia is famous for its grandiose May Day Parade. Well, screw the bloody (& they truly are ‘bloody’) Russian.

Whichever way you look at it, May 1, 2022, because of the TRAGEDY that is taking place in Ukraine, had to sombre & sobering.

I trust you felt the same way about that.

Not much room for celebration or cheer. There are folks in Ukraine who are suffering, suffering badly.

After WW II we all said “Never Again“.

Well, it is happening again ….!

Solidarity with Ukraine & Zelenskyy.

“China already through various deals & LEASES owns a fair chunk of coastal Sri Lanka — including one strategic port.”

“Various administrations, over the last two decades, have out of desperation or for personal gain, given China more & more access & sway over the country. China is happy to lend Sri Lanka lost of money (with backhanders in tow) as long as the loans are backed up by access to land & water.”

“It is no secret that China doesn’t have enough fertile land to support it population. They are buying & leasing land all over the world.”

The current President & his relatives (that run most of the country) will gladly handover the keys to Sri Lanka to China for a few more million dollars & flee to the U.S.! Yes, many have U.S. citizenship — or they will claim asylum.

It would be bloodless.

And as we have seen with Ukraine U.S. & others, at best, will impose some financial sanctions on China — who will just shrug them off.

Yes, India will NOT be happy BUT India is not going to go to war with China over Sri Lanka. That nuclear thing … & Sri Lanka, in the end, is still a very small potatoe.

China will whip the country back into some level of normalcy. It will be better than the misery they have now.

Just my thought. I am sure China has already thought this through & has a plan.

Well, this was in 2020 & NOT in 2022 during the current, unfortunate & unforgivable atrocities by the Russians.

Interesting that two years ago they were practicing such dramatic & drastic maneuvers. Wow. You have to hand it to them.

We know they are performing heroics right now. More than likely they are indeed flying very low to avoid radar.

All we can do is to wish them luck & ALL THE BEST.
