Well, I have SAID it BEFORE — about how Francis needs to STOP PRAYING. I have said it more forcefully.
I really don’t KNOW. That is why I am asking. Maybe it says so in the Bible? OOOPs! My mistake. Popes are NOT mentioned in the Bible. Oh?
The recent work I have been doing about popes got me THINKING (which is something I just can’t stop doing).
God & St. Peter between them must have SOME CRITERIA as to what is RIGHT and what is WRONG.
Yes? No?
Let’s, for the sake of it, take the blessing of same sex couple?
Where does God stand on that? He must have a position. Where does St. Peter stand on that?
The traditionalist are opposed to that and many other things. Are THEY RIGHT? Is God on their side. What about St. Peter.
From what I know, (THOUGH, I, OF COURSE, don’t believe in heaven (and SURE don’t won’t to be stuck there for eternity), St. Peter is the arbitrator. Plus, popes are his special envoys.
Just asking. Let me know. Are there any OFFICIAL Church teachings as to popes and heaven.
I know of AT LEAST two popes who deserve to be in heaven. AND PLEASE, don’t start talking about SAINTS. Men create popes as Saints! Not God. God, & St. Peter, are not bound by what men do, even popes … especially the ones that they might not let into heaven.
The ONLY two popes I can be sure of. My FAVORITE pope of ALL TIME — Saint Celestine V. Now that was a POPE. He was a MAN. He was a true Saint. My next Saint John XXIII.
Before anyone gets on their high horse about the title being sexist, please brush up on your ‘Robert Burns‘. Plus, given that there are also diapers I am sure that this is an equal opportunities crime by no means gender specific. SMILE.
This was today at the ever lovely Fort Williams on what was a beautiful (but very chilly & gusty) day. It was my second visit this year.
This scene by the only available ‘amenities’ is UNACCEPTABLE! How inconsiderate. What are people thinking. Yes, it is bad enough that people have become rude & think it is OK, but this is taking things to a whole different level.
I think Fort Williams, year round, quite rightly, is a ‘carry in, carry out‘ facility. We are off-season right now & they are not charging their nominal parking fees. So, they have also cut back on the upkeep & facilities. [I did NOT use the porta potties, but when the doors were open they looked ‘clean’ from where I was standing (at a safe distance). Being a man, & a daily, year round hiker to boot, I know how to get by without having to negotiate porta potties. SMILE.]
I am NOT sure how we can fix this problem. I thought about contacting the good people who lovingly maintain this wonderful park & offering to pay SOME towards renting a dumpster. But, that might not be the right fix. Plus, I understand, that some will, quite rightly feel that we gave into the problem.
One of Fort Williams’ many claims to fame is that it is dog friendly. It even has an off-leash dog area. That is why my daughter (whose 16th birthday it was today) loves this place. She can take her 104 pound puppy (though she will NOT let it off its leash).
I am saddened. It is the same as with manners. Why can’t we be more considerate. Being polite & considerate costs nothing. And it, trust me, is real easy to do. SMILE.

By all means give them treats when you are on foot, in my drive (or yard). I am OK with that. PLEASE DON’T TRY TO GIVE THEM TREATS FROM YOU TRUCK.

Why?
Because it makes dogs associate trucks — & for that matter all vehicles — with treats.
Dogs are smart, but NOT that smart — especially when it comes to treats.
When YOU give them treats from A TRUCK they think that they will get treats from every truck — & every vehicle.
NOT FUNNY.
Quite dangerous.
You are also encouraging them to CHARGE your trucks every time they see one.
So, PLEASE. Please.
I know you think you are being sweet. Good intentions, bad consquences.
It is BEST if dogs, especially BIG dogs like I have, do NOT associate YOU with treats.

P.S., Today, I had a FedEx driver stop, then backup 50 yards to give Rowen two biscuits! Aaahh! And then they wonder (& comment) as to why Rowen goes berserk when she sees a UPS or FedEx truck.
1/ Drivers who hit or kill a cat now have to report it, as was always the case with dogs. So, cats now are put on an equal footing with dogs. I am not a cat person, but I can appreciate the sentiments behind this law. The police may start getting a lot of extra calls since finding cat owners will likely be more difficult than that for a dog.
2/ Becomes a misdemeanor to remove a tracking collar or chip from someone else’s dog. Amusing that cats are again exempt! Wouldn’t it have been easier just to say ANY pet or animal?
3/ Harming any type of wild animal becomes a crime. About time too — but, I guess this does NOT apply to legally hunting animals.
4/ It becomes a felony IF you steal a dog for the SECOND TIME! Ah! It is OK as long as you only do it once? Same dog or does the offense apply to different dogs? This is STUPID. So, so New Hampshire. Second offense!
IF I had heard about this horrific execution of an elephant previously, it had not registered. I knew about the horses & dogs that had been electrocuted in the ‘AC/DC‘ wars to prove that AC will kill whereas DC was safe (though this was (& is) not the case). The electrocution of this ‘poor’ elephant (though it is SAID she killed three trainers) was news to I. I heard about it, with shock, this morning, while listening to “Tom McNichol’s” ‘AC/DC’ book (shown above). WOW.
The book also details in extremely gory details the dozens of innocent dogs that were horribly tortured & killed by the DC camp — Thomas Edison behind all of animal cruelty from the start! Yes, it all led to the development of the AC-powered ‘electric chair’. But, Edison’s DC scheme failed in the end. The AC won the day (though the book outlines how DC is making a comeback).
Watch the movies. Some of the FIRST to have been made — with a camera invented by Edison. That part is cool.
