I saw this on Facebook today. Got me curious. Didn’t look like an American Eagle. I am NO expert, but I have seen quite a few American eagles and kind of have a feel for what they look like. So, I did a bit of research. It looked like a HAWK to I. I used ‘Google Lens’. It immediately said ‘Red-Shouldered Hawk‘. I followed up. Looks like a pretty good match.
Yes, it appears that there are ‘eagles’ that look a BIT like that around the world, BUT not in the U.S.

I hate ebooks — both reading & producing them. I don’t read ebooks & only produce them because I have to. I hate ebooks. I like PRINTED books.
But, I appreciate that I have to keep up with the times.
And that is WHY ‘Vella’.
Vella is where you write content EPISODE-by-EPISODE. You don’t publish a complete finished book. Instead to publish one chapter at a time.
Vella has been around for a couple of years. I looked at it.
THEN yesterday, New Year’s Day, a chance, throwaway remark by a ‘Facebook‘ friend got me thinking. He, unintentionally, gave me an idea for a Vella Series. That led me to think of 3 MORE. So, now, today, I have 4 Vella books in my head. That is a good start.
So, I am giving you a heads up. Not sure HOW it will work out. I will start slowly.
That painting by her (shown at top) just BLEW ME away when I saw it on Facebook. How can one get that degree of realism, detail and intricacy. Bloody brilliant.
I sure wanted to bring her to YOUR attention. Check her out. I need to learn more about her.

It was unexpected. I do belong to that Facebook group. I check them out a few times a day to see what is happening in Maine. Saw this, to my DELIGHT, last night. Made my day. SMILE. After all these years & all those books, I still get a kick to see that people like one of my books. Makes it all worthwhile.
Yes, I am NOW planning to write another AMBLING GUIDE though this one will NOT be for the ‘Bold Coast‘. North of it. SMILE. Must get another book published & that is going to take another 4 months. SMILE.
Should be pretty self-explanatory. Not much I can add. As with the 1989 V12 ‘Jaguar XJS’ convertible I sold last week, I just was NOT using this. This had been, under covers, in the garage, since 2019. The covers had NOT come off. Though I originally had the notion of preserving these lovely ol’ British cars, them just sitting, under covers, wasn’t doing any of us any good.
So, selling this one too. Some interest already. Someone is coming to see it tomorrow itself. I will let you know when I sell it. Wish me luck, though I am not sure I will need it. Beautiful car.
I was, alas, NOT aware of her until today. Then the ‘Female Artists in History‘ page on Facebook featured her twice, back-to-back. I was impressed with the first picture they had featured & was researching the artist when they posted the second picture. I have been following that page for years & do not recall them doing back-to-back posts on the same artist. I am glad they did.
Nancy Bailey is impressive. Her paintings resonate with I. I need to find out MORE about her. I wanted to make sure you heard about her too. ENJOY.

Thursday, April 13, 2023 Laconia Rotary Club meeting @ the Belknap Mill. It was a packed (16 club members) & ebullient – thanks to a tremendously upbeat & uplifting presentation by Bob Bolduc of the eponymous ‘Bolduc Park’ (https://www.bolducpark.com/). It was quite the program (infinitely better than last week’s). Bob rocked. Bolduc Park has been providing stellar service to NH kids, especially the disadvantaged. I don’t have the words, space or the time to go into details — so please check their Website. It was an honor to listen to Bob talking about all the great things that have happened in & around the Park. Bob was accompanied by his wife & the Park’s Director of Marketing, Gail, who also did a short, but punchy presentation. Paula did another update on the motorcycle raffle & Nick assured us that it is ‘OK’ for us members to by tickets for family members. Gary Dionne, the CEO (where the ‘E’ stands for ‘entertainment’), yet again (at his own expense) provided 4 scratch tickets to augment the raffle. The Sgt. At Arms won the raffle (& since Warren was AWOL none was brave enough to question the legality of that). The CEO also won one of his own scratch tickets – but he didn’t tell us if he won any big bucks. There were a LOT of happy $$$s. Paula, yet again, had won an award & a lot of kids & grandkids (as expected by the Club) had excelled in various endeavors. The ‘New Guy’ (whose name I can never recall) did a happy $1 for some pagan holiday, BUT also noted that it was Chief Warren’s 50th Wedding Anniversary. He, however, did NOT part with a $1! Instead, he submitted an IOU … which will, someday, makes its way to Warren. Good meeting. Bolduc Park is looking for volunteers. Check out the pictures.

Laconia Rotary Club weekly meeting, Thursday, April 6, 2023 (at the historic Mill). It was well well attended. At least 16 club members, & one august guest, a Commercial Loan Officer from ‘Meredith Village Saving Bank’ (MVSB). Haven’t seen this many of us at a meeting in many a week — especially given that we had no external guest speaker. The presentation if you could call it that was some ad hoc, provocative ‘comments’ from one of our (supposed) club members. He is new. I always have trouble with his name. It is not, alas, ‘local’. We keep on calling him the ‘new guy’. That was him. He talked about Fat Buddhas, meditation & something to do with reincarnation. There was also some talk about ‘Deadbeat dads’! From what I could see he caused some consternation when he started talking about some mischief he used to get up with monkeys! Hhhmm. But, it was a good meeting. People seem to leave with a smile on their face. The CEOE, Gary Dionne was MIA. John Irving won the raffle & pulled an ACE. He got some money & appeared to be happy though I think that Chief Warren Clement is still holding onto all of the IOUs & adding 8% a week usury to them. So, that was that. I wish I knew the name of that guy who did the presentation. Never mind. I just hope his monkey is OK.
Contrary to what folks might imagine I do NOT check the REVIEWS I get that often — partly because (to be frank) I don’t get that many. But, every few months or so I do a quick check to see if there are any new ones. That proved to be the case recently when I found two really nice ones that had been left in March 2023.
The first one (at top) just cracked me up. I loved the “some humor tucked in”! She got it. Wow. So, rewarding. Made my week. Makes it all so worthwhile. SMILE.
And then the other one. To be told that the trail details are accurate & the directions spot on. Well, I really do try to be accurate & precise. Nice to know I get it right.
