‘Acadia’, $5 to $15 Price Hike As Of April 2023, Has To Be Good News For The ‘Bold Coast’, Maine.

‘Acadia‘, even with this price hike, is still well worth it. As I stress in all of my ‘Bold Coast‘ books, the ‘Acadia Experience‘ is unique & should not be overlooked. While, I am, obviously & of course, very fond of my ‘Bold Coast‘, I fully appreciate that Acadia is a more varied, richer & rewarding experience. I point out that IDEALLY one should do both, i.e., Acadia & Bold Coast. The keyword here being — ‘ideally‘. But, fund, time or both could get in the way.

Acadia is expensive. Earlier this month I, as is my wont, visited both. 3 nights at the Bold Coast cost me about as much as ONE NIGHT in Bar Harbor! And that is the rub.

Yes, there will be Bold Coast residents who will oppose the inevitable uptick in visitors. But, that is going to be inevitable.

I am glad. SMILE. More interest in my books. SMILE.

From caterpillar to healthy butterfly.

This is the THIRD (& last) Monarch Butterfly of 2022 that we hatched.
It only emerged today, & as such has yet to be freed.
He have read that they need at least a day to rest,
relax & build up body temperature.

But, as with the other two it too will get released —
hopefully in the next 2 days.

I am kind of concerned that this is late in the season. But, this is nature. So, I am sure ‘it’ knows what it is doing.

The release sequence. This time we released it straight from the bottle — doing so on our front steps.

From caterpillar to freed, healthy butterfly.

This was the SECOND Monarch Butterfly that we hatched
& successfully freed.

We have a third, still in the chrysalis phase inside that same BIG plastic bottle.

The 3rd caterpillar was a few days behind the 2nd in terms of
going into its cocoon. So, it will not emerge for a few days yet.

It is always neat to see the whole process from caterpillar to flying butterfly.

Also very gratifying to see it fly away. Hope it does well.

So, we still have one more to FREE. Stay tuned for the photos.

Managed to get the eBook (readable on ANY phone, PC, tablet etc.) published last night — 3-weeks after the paperback. Given that the book is heavily formatted, with lots of bullet lists (per its premise), making an eBook version was a LOT of work. I kid you not. But, it is NOW done, & that is a huge relief. I plan to take a few weeks off from writing!

The eBook will be downloadable for FREE from Thursday to Sunday this week, (i.e., August 25 – 28, 2022) directly from Amazon.

PLEASE NOTE that you DON’T need a Kindle to read Kindle eBooks!

Kindle eBooks can be read on ANYTHING — any phone (Android or Apple), PCs, Web browsers, tablets, etc. etc.

I hope to do two more ‘Bold Coast‘ books over the winter: ‘Bold Coast, Maine: In Color‘ & ‘Bold Coast, Maine: For Kids‘. I am hoping to have them available by May 2023.

The intent all along was to set it FREE when it was ready.

Just before noon, today, we did just that.

It flew away & went straight to a staghorn sumac.

It was gratifying to see it fly away — appearing to be in good health.

It did not seem to be in any hurry to fly off. I think it was the change in temperature. The fully screened covered deck it lived in for the last 3 days is shaded & as such cool. Today was a warm, sunny day & hence it was HOT outside. I think it took it a few minutes to get used to the change in temperature. They are COLD blooded. So this change in temperature was probably quite a shock to the system. Maybe we should have done it gradually. We had NOT thought about it. But, once it took off, it seemed to be fine. Not erratic or weak.

I was glad. There was no way that I was going to keep it. So, this was ALL good. I am happy.

This is a GOOD deal. Thank YOU ‘TDS‘ — & yes, we have ‘TDS TV‘ & also get our 1G Internet & landline from them.

From what I recall TDS does these previews a couple of times a year — & yes, I think they try always have one around Thanksgiving. That is cute & nice.

So, IF you have TDS make sure to avail yourself to this deal. No credit cards. HBO & Cinemax channels will appear in your guide. I can’t remember which channels — but I think they are in the ‘2000’ or higher range. Start at 2000 and look around.
