This is likely to be a Lubec that most of you have never seen before. Let me show you sights that you are unlikely to see unless you are ambling — a camera in hand. Lubec is a delightful town. I particularly enjoy ambling around Lubec early in the morning & late at night (when everyone else has gone to bed). I see Lubec while the denizens sleep. I get to savor the sounds of nature.

Yes, it is a bit long BUT then again during my 4 days of this my last visit (earlier this month) I walked about 20 miles just within the town boundaries of Lubec. Smile.

Well, if you have the time & inclination, please have a look. I am sure you will enjoy it. I had fun putting together this video.

Comet C/2022 E3 (ZTF) Presentation To ‘Laconia Rotary’ As A 2.5-Min. YouTube Video.

This was a short, 20-minute presentation (which went on for a bit longer). This video is not of the live presentation. It was ‘taped’ (& you should be glad of that).

Instead, this is my PowerPoint presentation made into a YouTube video set to music. It is just under 2.5 minutes. So, not too painful to watch.

This is NOT one of my full-blown, 1-hour (+) comet presentations. It was meant to be short, quick & with an emphasis on C/2022 E3 (ZTF). So, please don’t take this as one of my usual, in-depth comet presentations. I will, now that I have done this, make one of those too. OK?

Google Advanced Search Operators Like ‘Site:’, ‘OR’, ‘-‘ etc.

Click to access this quick crib sheet of the advanced operators.

Another useful post with a ever better list.

The video (on top) came up as a YouTube recommendation last night. I was curious. I use Google Search more than most. On average, I must Google around 50 times a day. Often much more — given that I like to spend as much time, each day, pursuing my research interests (which right now relate to ‘antipopes‘).

The video, at 5:30 minutes, was short enough so I took a chance. I am so glad I did.

I knew some, BUT not all. It also motivated me to do a Google Search to uncover some posts. SMILE. Well, I am sharing two of them with you. Definitely worth checking them out.

YouTube video with SOME of the photos from this book.

Not much I need to say or add. In this case all the pictures can & should do all the talking.

It a 54-page, full-color photo-book.

The PRIMARY objective was to create an AFFORDABLE, full-color paperback to complement my other 3 Bold Coast paperbacks — which are all in black-&-white. Just for completeness, consistency & to keep Amazon happy I also created an eBook version — though my Bold Coast ebooks, of course, are in color. But, this book has many, many photos I have not published before. Check out the YouTube video {above}.

Please check it out. At Amazon you have a totally FREE, no-obligation ‘Look-Inside‘ feature. Give it a spin.

A few photos:

This was serendipitous. I didn’t even know that this place existed — let alone that she was playing there. Going to ‘AppleView Orchard‘, in Pittsfield, N.H., in October, to pick apples has been a long-standing family ritual going back at least a decade. But, as with so many other things, we had NOT gone in 2020 or 2021 because of COVID. So, ‘Over the Moon’ farmstead was ALL NEW to I.

We did our usual stuff at AppleView. Daughter wanted to sit in the sun & just soak in the atmosphere — it having been an exceptionally gorgeous day. Since she, more than anyone else, knows my penchant for taking pictures, she suggested that I should walk across, check out the new place & take some pictures. I walked across. Heard the music. Went in. This was the result. Those that follow this blog know that I can’t resist taking pictures of performers & groups.

Another one of my photo montages made into a video. Enjoy. Yes, I wish I could have captured HER MUSIC. But, that is not my thing. Maybe when I grow up & learn how to shoot proper videos.

They, viz. the ‘International String Trio‘, were amazingly brilliant at the ‘Great Waters‘ concert, in Wolfeboro, N.H., on Sunday.

This is NOT a conventional video of them performing. Instead it is a photo montage of 80 photos stitched together, with YouTube supplied soundtrack (to circumvent copyright), to create quick 2-minute video. Check it out. It gives you a real feel of what it was like to be in the audience. Enjoy.

‘Saint Croix Island’, International Historic Site, Run By ‘National Park Service’, Outside Of ‘Calais’, Maine — With YouTube Video.

The island itself, briefly settled by the French in 1604,
is in the middle of the ‘Saint Croix River’.

There is NO access to the island from this site! There is a boat ramp. So, you can only get to the island IF you have your own boat. That is a bit of a poor show.

The French party only managed to stay on the island for less than a year!

The impressive bronze statues at the site.

It is small, with NO access to the actual island itself, but it is cute, well laid out with classic, National Park Service bilingual interpretive signage (i.e., very engaging) as well as 5 riveting bronze statues. There is a covered pavilion, overlooking the island, with a model of what the settlement on the island (in 1604) might have looked like.

5:30 minute YouTube video made up of 70 photos I took over my two visits.

It is definitely worth a visit & I ended up visiting it twice — the second time at sunset because I knew the light would do it favors (& I was right).

In purely historical terms this island is not that significant. ‘Saint Augustine‘ in Florida had been founded 39-years earlier & the British ‘Roanoke Colony‘ in North Carolina 19-years earlier.

To I, what was significant was that Samuel de Champlain was in the French party that set up this settlement — & he actually drew the plans for the settlement. Champlain WAS A BIG DEAL! He played a big part in the European appreciation of ‘Acadia’ & the well-known ‘Lake Champlain’ in Vermont is named after him. He also founded ‘Quebec’. But, he kind of screwed up here. In the winter they ran out of water & food.

Well, have a look. The video is sure worth viewing. You will feel like you were THERE. Enjoy.

‘Great Waters’ (New Hampshire): 6-Concert, 2022 Season Captured In A 5-Minute YouTube Video.

by Anura Guruge
on September 10, 2022

YouTube video embed BELOW.

YouTube video (4.5-minutes long).

The 2022 ‘Great Waters‘ season with its 6 concerts; 5 under the BIG tent (i.e., ‘Concerts in the Clouds‘). 140 still photos, that I took, stitched into a video with background music (though, alas, not from any of the concerts (so as to avoid copyright issues)).

It provides a fairly decent picture — ambience & all — of what the entire season was like. Check it out. I am sure you will get a kick from it.

NO. It hasn’t flown as yet. It is HOPING to do so on Saturday, September 10, 2022. This was the day before. All related to the annual ‘International Seaplane Fly-In‘ — in progress right now. This video talks about it. Check that regularly to see IF we get any further updates.

Again, for the second time in as so many days, I need to thank ‘Carole Harden Taylor‘, one of the Admins for this Live Webcam Channel (i.e., ‘Boston and Maine Live‘) for this video. Thank YOU, Carole. She is an amazing lady! So, helpful & kind.

‘Gary Mullen’ In ‘One Night Of Queen’: A 7.5-Minute Video That Captures The Very Soul Of Gary’s Magic.

on August 29, 2022

YouTube video embed BELOW.

MUST WATCH YouTube video (7.5-minutes long).

I kid you NOT. This 7.5-minute video will give you a UNIQUE perspective as to a ‘Gary Mullen‘ performance.

Not a conventional video. Instead, 157 still photos I took, at the concert, stitched together (via ‘PowerPoint‘) to make this 7.5-minute video. It does have a background soundtrack BUT it is NOT ‘Queen’ or ‘Gary Mullen’. Copyright issues! Instead it is copyright-free audio provided by ‘YouTube’.

Check it out. I am SURE you will NOT regret it. Thanks. SMILE.
